Welcome all to the MountainBlog. To give our readers an idea of what is in store, we have opted for a first issue roundtable to get to know our writers.
NCMountainTalk: Welcome aboard all...what would you like for the readers to gain from your commentary?
Mike Lanter: That we got us some beautiful land out here. And we all should enjoy it.
Wendy Mills: Well, I would like to enlighten all on the goings on within the politics of Western North Carolina, and how they can get involved.
Frank A. Henry: I'd like for them to gain a few pounds. Then go outside and lose it right back. Then come back, and do it again. It's a cycle, and it's exercise.
Rick Yelton: That I am a family man, I love the outdoors, and want to have a place where all mountain folk can express their ideas. Also, why is this called a roundtable when we are e-mailing our answers in to the questions? Shouldn't we be all sitting around a round table?
NCMountainTalk: Short answer - favorite mountain attraction.
ML: Anywhere I can fish or hunt, so I would say Pisgah Forest.
WM: Bele Chere
FH: Andie McDowell...always thought she was a pretty lady.
RY: Grandfather Mountain, or any Krispy Kreme!!
NCMountainTalk: Thoughts on the rapid growth of housing industry in the NC Mountains?
ML: Don't like it.
WM: Great for the economy, great for businesses, great for everyone!
FH: It's like a good prom date gone bad. She shows up to your house lookin' all pretty, then starts being flirty with you. Then right before the first slow dance she tells you she has a boyfriend in the Army.
RY: I think my grandfather says it best: "Get off of my property, y'all!"
NCMountainTalk: Last question - what can readers expect from your commentary?
ML: I'm a mountain man like most of us, and feel like I can relate with most on local issues. Also, we'll share some information on the best outdoor activities.
WM: Thought-provoking insight on local business and politics.
FH: They can expect sentences, punctuation, words, and a good time. That's all I can promise.
RY: Whenever I start writing, my mother says that I become one 'Yellin' Yelton'. I am an emotional writer that really wants to get to the bottom of all issues and start a nice dialogue with our readers.
NCMountainTalk: Thanks for checking out the Mountain Blog...check back in with us often to see commentary from the above writers.
